The University of Seville`s commitment to society is based on promoting a holistic approach to knowledge through the creation, development, transmission, dissemination, and critique of science, technology, art, culture, and regular physical activity. The University, in accordance with its mission statement, is committed to engaging its members with the local, regional, state, and international communities, fostering scientific, technical, cultural, social, athletic, economic, and regional growth. Similarly, the University considers it an essential task to train a free-thinking, participative, innovative, critically and rigorously aware community. It also strives to encourage and train its members to exercise their civic duties in a supportive and responsible fashion. Higher education is not a matter that can be judged as just another component of the dynamics of the economy. The University is a public service, where future plans cannot be determined by the application of market politics.
