King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences (KSAU-HS) was opened in 2005 by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, as the first public university in Saudi Arabia to specialise in medicine and health sciences. Its motto translates as “A university for a nationโs health”.
The main campus is in the east of Saudi Arabiaโs capital Riyadh, designed with a mix of contemporary and classical Islamic architecture. There are two other campuses in Jeddah and Al-Ahsa.
The main campus in Riyadh has a potential capacity for 10,000 students. It hosts seven colleges in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health and health informatics, applied medical sciences, nursing and science and health professions. The buildings are located within a landscaped area, connected by footpaths.
Jeddah Campus hosts colleges of medicine, nursing, applied medical sciences, and sciences and health professions. The Al-Ahsa campus hosts colleges of applied medical sciences, nursing, and sciences and health professions.
The Health Informatics Masters programme is considered to be the first master’s in health informatics available in the Middle East.
All of the campuses are located in King Abdulaziz medical cities, giving KSAU-HS clinical applications and training under health professionals. They are overseen by the Saudi National Guard of Health Affairs.
As a co-educational institution, KSAU-US has over 30,000 students, the vast majority of which are at undergraduate level. International applicants are welcome to apply for admission.
KSAU-HS has a number of agreements for academic collaboration with international universities such as the University of Sydney, University of Liverpool and South Alabama University.
