University Profile
The University of East Anglia, founded in 1963, has nearly 15,000 students and around 3,000 full-time staff. It has been in the top five English mainstream universities for student satisfaction ever since the National Student Survey was introduced, and was top in the THES Student Experience Survey in 2013. Former students include Nobel Prize winning scientist Sir Paul Nurse, authors Ian McEwan and Rose Tremain, film director Gurinder Chadha and actor Matt Smith the latest Dr Who. Norwich has the fourth greatest concentrations of most highly cited researchers in the UK (at the University and its Norwich Research Park partners), after London, Oxford and Cambridge. Over half of the University`s research is classed as `world-leading` and 87% of international standing`.
