Nanjing University is most active in China for international academic exchange as well as for Copperation with universities in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. The Nanjing University-Johns Hopkins University Center for Chinese and American Studies, founded in the 1980s, is the earliest Copperation with overseas institutions in China. Nanjing University seeks to reform its teaching and learning to combine general education with individual-tailored training, for the purpose of providing the best undergraduate education in China. Nanjing University today has developed into a comprehensive university on three campuses, namely Gulou, Xianlin and Pukou, with a total area of more than 200 hectares and a floor space of more than 1,000,000 square meters. Nanjing University is comprised of 28 schools with 31,072 full-time students and 2,180 full-time faculty members. The University Library has a collection of over 5.6 million volumes. Currently, the Nanjing University community works conscientiously and persistently for building a comprehensive, research-intensive and internationalized university of international standing in both teaching and research.
