Australiaโ€™s enhancement of graduate work rights has diminished foreignersโ€™ appetite for study in the bush, and the looming reimposition of an online study limit could make matters worse. IELTS fraudsters posing as IDP and British Council staff online

One Instagram account, with almost 17,000 followers, claims to be run by an โ€œIDP database executive managerโ€ and offers โ€œauthentic and valid IELTS/PTE without taking the examsโ€.ย  Another account with almost 10,000 followers advertises services including leaked exam questions, score โ€˜upgradesโ€™ and โ€˜controllingโ€™ results while students take exams.ย  Similarly, across TikTok, accounts use the IDP and IELTS logos to help sell โ€œgenuine and authentic IELTS certificatesโ€ without taking exams, while other fraudsters run paid advertisements on Facebook using the IDP name.ย  There are also numerous websites online offering to generate fake certificates.
