National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) traces its origin back to the Advanced Academy of Agronomy and Forestry established in 1919. It stands nowadays as one of the few schools with a significantly long history in Taiwan. NCHU comprises eight colleges, Institute of Innovation Industry and seven major research centers. The University owns four experimental forest stations, veterinary hospital, an agricultural experimental farm and an animal experiment farm, whose teaching and research facilities occupying an area of more than 8,000 hectares. The University has a total of about 760 full-time faculty and about 18,000 students, with the number of graduate students representing 40% of its student population. The Ministry of Education (MOE) launched in 2006 and 2011 its two phases, five-year 50 billion program Aiming for Top University. With its distinguished efforts and achievements in the past, NCHU has been chosen as one of the universities for grant subsidy by the MOE. In appreciation of this valuable grant, NCHU faculty, students and staff have made all efforts to implement its plans of the project, with significant improvements in the areas of institutional and administrative system reform, academic research, teaching quality, talent cultivation, internationalization, and academia-industry collaboration.
