Based in Melbourne, Swinburne was originally established as a technical college in 1908. University status was achieved in 1992, and Swinburne now offers a wide range of programs at its Melbourne campuses, at a major branch-campus at Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia, and online. In both education and research, Swinburne’s strengths lie predominantly in science, engineering, ICT, design, the social sciences, business and innovation.
